About: Diego González-García
I am a PhD student in Petrology at the Department of Physics and Geology of the University of Perugia. Previously, I earned a Geology degree (2009) at the University of Oviedo, Spain, where I also completed a Master degree in Geological Resources and Geotechnics (2011). My Master thesis, qualified with honors degree, dealt with the petrological, mineralogical and geochemical characterization of a suite of amphibolitized metabasic rocks associated with the Ordovician tonalite pluton of Zarza la Mayor, Western Spain. Besides, I have worked for one year as R&D technician at Pasek Minerales S.A.U., a refractory materials company. My PhD research is part of the CHRONOS project and is focused on the diffusive fractionation of chemical elements taking place in magma mixing processes before and during volcanic eruptions.
